Wonderful vintage 1970s-style wooden box purse featuring whimsical Betsey Clark-style storybook children in unusual raised, dimensional 3D relief.
Unlike ordinary flat decoupage, the adorable children and portions of the artwork are raised from the wooden surface, creating wonderful depth and texture. Different nostalgic scenes decorate the front, back, sides and lid in soft blues, greens, yellows and earthy cottage colors.
Details include a sage green velvet-covered handle, decorative antiqued metal hinges, shaped/scalloped lower edge, and a lovely lavender/purple lined interior.
The sweet bonneted children, rosy cheeks and pastoral scenes have a wonderful Betsey Clark / 1970s storybook aesthetic. No artist or manufacturer marking has been found, so this piece is being described as Betsey Clark style and is not attributed to Betsey Clark.
