Charming miniature two-piece hen-on-nest covered dish or salt cellar in opaque blue and white milk glass or opaline. The molded hen sits on a separate nest-form base with a scalloped rim and basket-weave design. The glass has a wonderful rich blue exterior with opaque white visible on the interior and underside.This miniature form is associated with antique European hen-on-nest salts, including examples produced by Vallerysthal and Portieux.
