Charming vintage figural picture frame/poclet watch holderfeaturing a winged cherub/putto holding an ornate circular Rococo-style frame,mounted on a square banded pale green and cream stone base.The figure appears to be cast brass or brass-finished metal and has anattractive aged patina. The decorative stone base is the type commonlydescribed as onyx; because many vintage “onyx” decorative objects are actuallybanded calcite/aragonite, the stone is described conservatively here asonyx-type banded stone.The small circular opening was designed for a photograph or portrait miniatureand you can see a space where the hook for the for the pocket watch is missingt . The original image/glass is not present. Old backing material/residue andretaining points remain in the frame.No maker's mark has been identified. Based on construction and comparabledecorative frames, this piece is believed to date approximately to the mid-20thcentury, circa 1950s–1960s.Condition: Vintage condition with age-related patina, surface wear anddiscoloration.
