Vintage Brass Natural Sine Surveyor’s Pocket Transit / Compass
Substantial vintage-style brass surveying/navigation instrument featuring a compass, clinometer/inclinometer, sighting mechanism, mirror, bubble level and Natural Sine reference table on the reverse.
The compass needle moves freely and does settle toward magnetic north when the instrument is level. I have not professionally calibrated or tested the instrument for surveying accuracy, so no guarantee is made regarding precision or calibration.

No manufacturer or country-of-origin marking has been found, so I am not attributing this instrument to Stanley, Brunton or another maker.
The instrument shows age and use including brass patina, surface marks, scratches, spotting and areas of oxidation/verdigris. The mirror has considerable age-related spotting/deterioration. Please see the close-up photographs for exact cosmetic condition.
The instrument has only been lightly cleaned. It has not been polished or restored, preserving the aged brass finish.
