Authentic retired Cairns RS1 structural firefighter turnout/bunker coat, heavily worn from actual service and retaining excellent original character.
This is an older tan/gold structural firefighting coat with high-visibility fluorescent reflective striping around the body and sleeves, removable interior protective liner, storm collar, heavy-duty front closure, large lower pockets and sleeve-mounted utility/radio pocket.
The manufacturer’s label identifies the coat as a Cairns RS1 and states compliance with NFPA 1971-2000, dating this configuration to approximately the early-to-mid 2000s. The label appears to indicate a PBI/Kevlar-type outer shell construction, typical of higher-grade structural turnout gear of the period.
The back retains reflective “CF” and “73” lettering. There are clearly visible outlines/remnants where additional reflective letters were previously attached; these appear as though the original department abbreviation may have read “LCFD” or something similar, although I have not been able to positively identify the department and am leaving that interpretation to the buyer. The removed lettering has left visible adhesive/shadowing in the fabric.
Interior identification/certification labels remain present, including handwritten number 2300857.
This coat is substantially distressed from former use, with soot/dirt discoloration, stains, fading, abrasion, worn reflective material, loose threads, surface wear and evidence of removed lettering. The cuffs show particularly strong wear. Please review photographs closely for condition.
An interesting piece of genuine retired firefighting equipment with a strong industrial/workwear aesthetic—appropriate for a firefighter collection, firehouse display, theater/film prop, vintage workwear collection or decorative use.
