Vintage Chinese Brass Characters Lot 11 Made Taiwan Wall Decor 9\" Prosperity For Sale

Offered here is a substantial lot of 11 vintage Chinese character wall decorations, all made in Taiwan, Republic of China.

The pieces are cast metal with a brass/brass-tone finish and together weigh nearly 7 pounds. Each measures approximately 6.5\" wide x 9\" tall, with some variation according to the shape of the character.

The lot includes traditional Chinese auspicious characters and designs associated with good fortune, happiness, prosperity and longevity. Several retain older English identification labels on the backs, including “Prosperity” and “Double Happiness.”

All 11 pieces are identified as Made in Taiwan. Several still have their original “Made in Taiwan Republic of China” paper labels, while others have “MADE IN TAIWAN” cast or impressed directly into the backs.

These were previously mounted, apparently as part of a wall display, decorative installation or sign. The backs retain considerable old adhesive, glue and mounting residue from that installation.

The pieces show age and use, including tarnish, oxidation, patina, scratches, spotting and discoloration. Green oxidation is visible in several areas, particularly around old mounting material. They have not been polished or restored, and the old adhesive has been left in place.
