A substantial vintage Chinese chest crafted from aromatic camphorwood and covered in intricate hand-carved relief work. Village scenes with figures, buildings and foliage stretch across the front, back, sides and lid, framed by bold carved flowers.The chest has a warm, time-darkened finish, an unlined natural-wood interior and brass-tone hardware. At more than nine pounds, this is a genuinely hefty piece—not a flimsy souvenir box.
