~ History & Provenance: The iconic \"Cookie Jug\" was manufactured by the Western Stoneware Company at their historic Monmouth Pottery plant in Monmouth, Illinois. Founded in 1892, Monmouth Pottery became famous for its heavy, high-quality utilitarian stoneware, proudly stamping pieces with their signature maple leaf emblem. In 1906, Monmouth merged with several regional potteries to form Western Stoneware, though the Monmouth plant (designated as Plant Four) continued utilizing variations of the beloved maple leaf mark on specialized kitchenware lines until 1956 when the historic Monmouth Factory finally ceased operations.* Note: While certain high-volume utility and novelty production runs left the factory floor entirely unmarked on the base, the identical dimensions, handle styling, and distinct clay composition verify this piece as an authentic Monmouth plant production.
