Vintage Detailed Inlaid Wood Marquetry Backgammon Chess Folding Game Board 20x20 For Sale

This sale is for a stunning vintage mid-1970s detailed inlaid wood marquetry backgammon and chess folding game board in the form of a large rectangular box made of wood with a stained finish. Handmade and original, it was purchased new in Greece in 1975. The marquetry is mostly intact, though you will find some minor bits missing here and there. You will also find some paint loss along the edges and at the corners.Please examine the listing photos carefully for the best representation of condition. It has had a lot of use over its 50+ years. On the inside, the box features multicolor marquetry backgammon. Outside, there is a chess / checkers design, making it a unique and decorative collectible for all occasions. The box opens and closes with a clasp in front. The metal clasp has tarnished over the years, but still does a great job opening and keeping the box closed, as needed. When open, the board forms a square measuring 19 and 3/4 inches by 19 and 3/4 inches, with a thickness of 3 and 1/4 inches. The empty weight of the box is 4 pounds, 12 ounces.
