Be sure to check out all of the photos and ask any questions that you may have. Sometimes the photos will depict a slightly brighter color (especially reds and oranges) than the actual pipe or stem color. I adjust the lighting to get as close as I can but still leave the photo bright enough to see the detail of the pipe. Nobody likes to look at dark photos and fully see what they are purchasing.
• The pipe has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized, ready to smoke out of the box. I follow the same process many others use. This is how I clean all of my own pipes before I smoke them.
• The bowl has been reamed and cleaned with alcohol and cotton balls. I do not use salt as it can dry out the briar and cause fractures inside the bowl.
• Pipes will have the lava and charring removed from the rim (as possible), and the outside of the pipe has been cleaned, treated with danish oil and or a restoration balm to rejuvenate and re-moisturize the briar. Pipes are then polished and buffed with carnauba wax. It should be noted that sometimes a pipe will require refinishing. I will do my best to match the existing dye but in some cases o will have no other choice but to use a color that is “close enough” to the original.
• Pipes will show some wear. In some cases there will be visible scratches, dents and old sand pit fills. These are all part of the pipe history.
• Stems have been cleaned and sanitized, and vulcanite stems have been soaked in de-oxidizer, polished and coated with several layers of carnuba wax
• Stems may have some minor teeth marks. All large marks will be filled.
