Offered here is a vintage single-trumpet compressed-air horn manufactured by Grover Products Company of Los Angeles, California. The back is clearly marked “Grover Products Company – Los Angeles” and “Pat. No. 2281539.”
The patent was issued to inventor Lyndon V. Grover in 1942 for a powerful fluid-operated warning horn designed for use on automobiles, trucks, trains, boats, emergency equipment, and industrial warning systems. This horn was manufactured sometime after the patent’s 1942 issue date and has fantastic mid-century industrial character.
Its long chrome trumpet, substantial sound chamber, and original mounting bracket make it an excellent piece for:
• Vintage truck or automobile restoration
• Rat rod, hot rod, or custom vehicle projects
• Marine and emergency-equipment collections
• Garage, shop, or transportation-themed décor
• Restoration or display
CONDITION:
Vintage pre-owned condition with considerable age-related wear. The chrome finish displays oxidation, pitting, discoloration, scratches, and areas of plating loss, especially around the rear housing. The mounting bracket and hardware show additional wear and oxidation.
The horn has not been connected to a compressed-air source and is therefore untested. Its operating condition is unknown, and it is being sold as-is for restoration, parts, display, or possible working use. No compressor, valve, tubing, or additional equipment is included.
