Traveling Man Treasures is selling this vintage hand-carved wooden statue sculpted in the distinct style of Taíno indigenous Caribbean art. The sculpture is is in fine condition (as shown) and hand-carved out of a dense, dark-stained tropical hardwood.
The statue features a crouching figurative posture, prominent wide circular eyes, and a tall, distinctive elongated headdress/crown. The form heavily reflects traditional Caribbean folk art and Taíno Zemí (sacred spirit) iconography typically used in cohoba rituals.
