Up for sale is a spectacular example of traditional American needlework.
This striking Broken Star patchwork quilt is entirely hand-constructed. Both the complex geometric diamond piecing and the dense background background textures were meticulously stitched completely by hand.
Design & Era:This quilt features a classic palette of crisp cream cotton background fabric accented by deep navy blue calico prints and delicate pink/blue floral calico diamonds.
The interior features a lightweight, uniform polyester sheet batting typical of the 1970s/1980s crafting boom, which gives the hand-quilted \"clamshell\" and \"feather\" motifs a beautifully plump, lofted dimension.

Top Wear: There is a distinct section on one of the outer floral calico diamond rows where the fabric has shredded/dry-rotted through to the batting (see finger-pointing photos). There is also one small puncture hole on the front cream background. Otherwise the fabic feels good.
Backing Stains: The reverse cream backing features scattered brown age spots (foxing) and minor storage discoloration marks from long-term chest storage.
Structure: The structural hand-piecing and perimeter binding remain strong. It comes from a smoke-free home and has no odors.
