Beautiful set of authentic handcrafted African musical instruments from Cameroon. This lot includes a traditional wooden balafon/xylophone with natural calabash gourd resonators and matching mallet, along with a large handwoven beaded gourd shaker/rattle.
The balafon features hand-cut wooden keys mounted on a rustic wood frame with suspended gourds underneath for resonance. The accompanying gourd shaker is wrapped in an intricate net of natural seed pods/beads creating a rich rhythmic sound.
These pieces are both functional musical instruments and outstanding display pieces for folk art, tribal décor, music studios, or collectors of African art and ethnographic instruments.
