-Vintage Sneath Canister Jar TEA Black Amethyst Sun Purple Napanee Mission.
-I believe this is black amethyst glass but it is possibly sun purple. I have formed this opinion because the color is very consistent and the color is very dark and deep. It appears black until it’s exposed to a strong light, it then has a purple tint. I cannot verify which it is and was unable to find any information to verify it. Obviously it’s scare and rare.
-Measures 5 3/4” tall x 3 3/8” square. The lid is tin or aluminum, someone over the years has painted the lid a tan color, there is no damage to the lid and functions well, you probably could strip the paint using paint stripper.
-This is believed to be from 1900-1925. Weighs 1 1/2 lbs.
-CONDITION: No cracks or chips. I see some tiny nicks, nothing serious. It does have some mold flaws, straw type, it’s beautiful! The photos do have some camera.
