This vintage pitcher and wash basin set was hand-painted in Italy with sprays of cornflower-blue pompom blossoms on slender amber stems, sweeping green leaves, and a bold hand-brushed green rim. The loose, freehand brushwork is the charm: no two flowers are alike, and you can see the painter\'s hand in every dot.
The plump, bellied pitcher has a generous pouring spout and a green-striped handle, and it nests beautifully in the deep, wide basin. Displayed together, they make a classic washstand vignette. Used separately, the pitcher works as a flower vase or water jug and the basin as a fruit, bread, or salad bowl (decorative use suggested).
The numbers on the bottom: \"103/1\" and \"51/28\" were painted by hand. They\'re workshop codes for shape or model and pattern or size, not an artist\'s signature. On the bowl, \"28\" may mean a 28 cm (about 11\") diameter.
