Vintage ItalianMini Well Pipe Imported Briar Bent Estate Tobacco Pipe
Distinctive vintage Italian WELL PIPE featuring a deeply bent briar bowl, black curved stem and wide silver-colored metal ferrule.
The pipe is stamped WELL PIPE on the shank and IMPORTED BRIAR / ITALY on the opposite side. The ferrule bears an EP diamond mark.
“Well Pipe” refers to the pipe's system-style construction incorporating an internal reservoir or sump intended to collect moisture below the airway. Italian Well Pipes of this type are documented among pipes imported by Mastercraft and associated historically with Italian maker Federico Rovera.
Attractive dark reddish-brown briar with visible grain and a classic full-bent profile. Approximately 3½ inches across as positioned in the ruler photograph.
Previously smoked estate pipe being offered as found and uncleaned. Chamber contains carbon/tobacco residue. Exterior has scratches, handling marks and finish wear. Rim shows use and darkening. Metal ferrule has scratches, tarnish and age wear. Black stem has oxidation/discoloration and tooth/use marks near the bit.
No attempt has been made to clean, sanitize, polish or restore the pipe. Please examine the photographs closely for exact condition.
