- Beautiful vintage Japanese Kutani ware (九谷) porcelain teacup and matching saucer.
- The exterior features a detailed hand-painted scene with Mount Fuji, traditional red-roofed buildings, pine trees, and three figures in kimono (two women and one attendant in red). Accented with gold outlining and a classic black-and-gold geometric border on the rims. Gold handle on the cup.
- Special feature: When the cup is held up to the light, a clear lithophane portrait of a Japanese woman (geisha-style) appears in the bottom.Marked on the underside of the saucer in red with the characters 九谷 (Kutani).
- Likely early-to-mid 20th century export ware. A charming and collectible example of traditional Japanese porcelain with the popular lithophane detail.
- Good overall vintage condition. No major chips, cracks, or repairs noted from photos. Some expected light wear to the gold and paint consistent with age. Lithophane is clear and well-defined. Please view all photos carefully as they form part of the description.
