The back has elegant, hand-painted black iron-oxide brush calligraphy reading \"都をどり\" (Miyako Odori). There is a potter’s mark carved into the clay before firing. A wonderful, authentic piece of Japanese tea ceremony and Mingei folk craft history.Excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks. The mark in the center of the base is an intentional, hand-carved artist\'s signature, not a structural flaw or separation.
