Vintage Japanese Somayaki (Ohori Soma Ware) crackle-glaze ceramic 13pc tea set. For Sale

The is a vintage, never used Japanese Somayaki (Soma Ware) green crackle-glaze tea set featuring distinctive heart-shaped cutouts at the base and a golden horse design. The set includes teapot with lid, sugar jar with saucer and lid, cream cup with saucer, and 6 tea cups. All pieces are in perfect condition as the entire set has set quitely in storage since the early 1970s. This was purchased by a US Army soldier while on R&R in Japan during his last tour in Vietnam as a mothers day gift. When he didn\'t return home, it sat unopened for decades as a painful reminder of his sacrifice. This is some of the most beautiful design and artwork of the period, an excellent tea set for entertaining with a story worth talking about over tea. Some pieces are still packed in their original packaging.
