Up for sale is a wonderful piece of mid-century Hawaiian tourism history: an authentic, solid brass room key from the legendary Kauai Surf Hotel on Kalapaki Beach in Lihue, Kauai.
Key Details:Room Number: 554 (Located on the 5th floor of the resort's iconic luxury high-rise tower).
Design: Classic one-piece "key-tag" combo stamped out of solid brass.
Reverse Side Stamping: Features the historic security "blind tag" message: "POSTAGE GUARANTEED / P.O. BOX 4729 / LIHUE, HAWAII 96766" used to safely return lost keys via the US Post Office without revealing the hotel name to strangers.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The brass has a fantastic aged patina with minimal wear. The stamped lettering remains incredibly sharp, crisp, and fully readable (please see photos for exact condition details).
The Kauai Surf Hotel was the premier high-rise luxury destination of the island's golden mid-century Tiki era before being remodeled and absorbed into a modern resort. This is a rare, tangible artifact from a bygone era of Hawaiian travel.
