【Item Description】
Beautiful vintage Kuna / Guna Mola textile panel from Panama, featuring a bold abstract bird motif worked in vivid orange, blue, green, yellow, purple, pink, and black against a rich burgundy-red background.
The design is created using the traditional multi-layer reverse appliqué and hand-stitching technique associated with Mola textiles made by the Kuna (Guna) people of Panama’s San Blas region.
The central bird is surrounded by colorful geometric stitched elements, while the eye area includes particularly detailed decorative embroidery.
This appears to be a cut-out panel from a traditional woman’s blouse, with the characteristic V-shaped neckline opening at the top and unfinished/raw outer edges where the panel was removed from the original garment.

This is an attractive piece for framing, textile collecting, folk-art display, quilting, sewing, pillow projects, or other decorative use.

Pre-owned vintage condition with signs of age and previous use.
The outer edges are raw, irregular, and frayed, consistent with the panel having been removed from a garment.
There is a small faint brown age spot / stain visible on the fabric; please see the close-up photos for detail.
Some loose threads, minor fabric wear, and age-related irregularities are present.
The colorful appliqué and embroidered design remains vibrant and visually striking overall.

A wonderful example of traditional Panama folk textile art, with especially strong colors and a very graphic bird design. The visible handwork and layered construction give the piece much more character than a modern printed textile.
It would look particularly nice professionally framed while still preserving the irregular blouse-panel shape.
