Vintage ceramic Virgin Mary / Madonna planter or wall pocket, attributed to Lefton. This distinctive religious piece features a praying Madonna with crossed hands, raised halo, and ornate gold trim and decoration against an ivory white glazed finish.
The open rectangular compartment at the back allows the piece to be used as a small planter or vase, and there is a hanging hole on the back for wall display. The underside is marked AR5884. Other examples of this design and number have been identified as Lefton, although this example retains no original Lefton label, so attribution is based on comparison with known examples.
A beautiful piece of vintage mid-century religious decor.
