Vintage Mexican Saca Tripas Folding Knife Tranchete Stamped J Handle Horn:
$75.99

Up for sale is an authentic, highly collectible vintage Mexican Saca Tripas folding knife (historically known as a tranchete). This traditional piece features beautiful regional Mexican blacksmithing and folk-art styling, making it a fantastic addition to any vintage knife or militaria collection
Key Features & Details:
  • Hand-Forged Carbon Steel Blade: Features a classic, aggressive crescent hawkbill profile. The blade steel has a deep, gorgeous natural aging patina and clear hand-ground geometry. [1]
  • Crisp Maker's Mark: Stamped with a prominent, hand-struck "J" initial mark at the base of the blade, verifying its true handmade workshop lineage.
  • Hand-Carved Horn Handle: Crafted from a single piece of dark, natural horn that curves ergonomically and ends in a beautifully flared pommel.
  • Mechanism Note: The pivot operates smoothly with firm friction. Please note the open hole in the blade tang indicating that the original steel pull-ring latch is no longer present.
Condition Disclaimer:
This is a genuine vintage, field-used item showing authentic age and wear. The hand-forged steel has an excellent natural dark patina with minor edge rolling near the blade tip. Mechanically, the blade opens smoothly via friction, but the original steel pull-ring latch mechanism is missing (leaving an open hole in the tang). The natural horn handle remains structurally stable to hold, but the decorative pommel beak at the very bottom is broken/chipped off, and there is some light surface cracking/layer separation in the horn near the base due to age and drying. Sold strictly as-is for restoration or historic display. Please see all macro photos for exact cosmetic condition.Asking questions is encouraged!Verifying your Purchase just makes Good Sense !
