Offered is a fantastic vintage military-style field strong box / storage chest measuring approximately 10” x 16” x 18.5”. This heavily constructed piece combines a metal-covered body with a wood top, substantial hardware, carrying handles, front latch, and removable interior panel/tray.
The exterior has an outstanding aged gray/olive military-industrial finish with extensive authentic-looking wear from years of use. Scratches, paint loss, oxidation, dents, stains and surface wear give it exactly the rugged character collectors and decorators look for in old utilitarian storage pieces.
One of the coolest features is the assortment of old labels and hardware remaining on the front, including Belmont bourbon/whiskey labeling and a mounted Coca-Cola bottle opener. These additions give the box a terrific old workshop, barracks, hunting-camp or garage aesthetic.
The top lifts to reveal a removable brown fiberboard/felt-type interior panel with pull cord and a large storage compartment underneath.

Condition
Vintage pre-owned condition with heavy age and use wear.
This box has substantial cosmetic wear, including chipped and peeling paint, scratches, scuffs, discoloration, oxidation/rust to hardware, dents, marks, stains and general surface wear throughout.
The wooden top shows considerable paint loss and exposed wood along edges and corners. The front latch shows oxidation. Labels are aged, worn and partially deteriorated. Interior components also show age, staining and wear.
We have intentionally not restored or refinished it—the aged surface is a major part of its character.
