Vintage Murano art glass red and gold \"tutti frutti\" bowl/ashtray For Sale

Venice first became a hub of glassmaking in the 8th century, due to its strategic position between the Byzantine Empire and the Orient. In 1291, Venetian authorities ordered all glassmaking moved to the nearby island of Murano to prevent fires from destroying the city. Once isolated on Murano, glassmakers were granted noble privileges but forofferden from leaving the island and taking their techniques to other regions. To this day, Murano glass is revered for its beauty and craftsmanship.

Formerly part of a large private art glass collection, this dramatic red and gold "tutti frutti" ashtray or cocktail/trinket bowl is further encased in clear glass. It's in very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks or significant scratches. There is some very light shelf wear to the base (see photos).
