EXCEPTIONAL Jemez Pueblo Storyteller with 5 Babies by Virginia Lucero, Hand Coiled Native American Pottery
This beautiful piece has vibrant colors and is all handmade of hand coiled and sculpted clay. Exquisite attention to detail can be seen on the hand painted faces and caps. The piece is signed on the bottom by the artist, V. Lucero, Jemez Pueblo.
MEASUREMENTS: Approximately 6 inches tall x 4 inches wide. Please refer to photos for exact measurements.
CONDITION: Very Good Condition Overall. There is a small chip on one foot that is hard to notice except from below. PLEASE VIEW ALL PHOTOS.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Virginia Lucero, born 1964, is a member of the Fire Clan of Jemez Pueblo. She has been sculpting clay since age 14 and specializes in handmade storyteller art pottery figures. She learned the art from friends and family members, including Marie Romero, who comes from a long line of famous potters, and is related to Carol Lucero-Gachupin, Mary Rose Lucero (cousins) and Mary I. Lucero (sister). She paints her colorful storytellers with vegetable and mineral pigments and fires her pottery figures outdoors in a pit with cedar chips.
