We are offering for sale a Quality vintage electric BelAir Bel-Air Bantam Model 33 (B509515A) portable sewing machine with working Bel-Air products of California foot pedal and dome top carrying case..
After World War II the U.S.Government encouraged the manufacturing of sewing machines based on American designs including Singer model15(a widely popular machine at the time) while America occupied Japan (1945-1952), as a strategy to rebuild Japan's economy..In a 1963 antitrust lawsuit in the U.S.,Singer was found guilty of conspiring with European companies to exclude Japanese machines from the American market..
