This is a vintage Arpillera, a traditional South American textile artwork. The inscription reads “COSECHA DE … (Harvest of …),” though the exact crop is unclear, and it likely represents a symbolic harvest or a local agricultural product.
Arpilleras originated in Chile during the 1970s as a form of resistance art, carrying social and political messages. Later, the tradition spread to Peru and Bolivia, where it evolved into vibrant folk art depicting rural life, markets, and festivals. This piece belongs to that tradition and is most likely a Peruvian folk Arpillera.
