Beautiful vintage ruffled fabric lampshade with layers of gathered cream/pink fabric and delicate lace edging over a white metal wire frame. This is the wonderfully excessive kind of shade that works especially well with Victorian, boudoir, Cottagecore, shabby chic and Grandmillennial decor.
The shade is constructed with multiple tiers of deeply gathered fabric, creating a full skirted silhouette when viewed from the side. Narrow cream lace trims the ruffled edges and gives it an especially romantic antique-inspired appearance. When illuminated, the fabric produces a very warm amber-gold glow, while the overlapping ruffles create dramatic areas of light and shadow.
The metal frame measures approximately 12 inches across at the widest bottom edge. The upper fitter/opening measures approximately 4 inches across. Please use the measurements to determine compatibility with your particular lamp.
This is an older textile shade and has been left in its existing vintage condition. The fabric shows age-related discoloration, scattered spotting/staining and some uneven coloration, along with wear and loose/fraying threads in places. The lace also shows age and wear. The white-painted wire frame has minor age-related wear. I have not attempted to wash, bleach or otherwise restore the fabric.
Despite the age wear, it displays beautifully—the abundant ruffles largely become the visual focus, and when lit the aged cream fabric takes on a particularly rich, warm color. It would be a great finishing piece for an antique table lamp, boudoir lamp, Victorian bedroom, romantic cottage interior, shabby chic room or eclectic maximalist space.
A wonderfully theatrical old shade with enough ruffles and patina to make an ordinary lamp considerably more interesting.
