Up for sale is a fascinating piece of mid-century coastal history! This is a vintage 4-inch diameter souvenir life ring, dating from approximately the 1930s to the 1950s.

It features hand-stamped black lettering for the famous S.S. Sandy Hook, a historic fast paddle-wheel steamboat operated by the Central Railroad of New Jersey. This ship famously carried commuters and vacationers between New York City and the Jersey Shore (Sandy Hook/Atlantic Highlands). The lettering remains clear and legible, accompanied by molded anchor motifs and original red and blue painted accents on both sides.

Condition Details:

This item is in original, uncleaned vintage condition with authentic character and age.

• Front: The \"S.S. Sandy Hook\" stamped lettering is clearly visible. There is paint fading, light surface scuffs, and gentle aging to the white surface. No cracks or chips. There is paint flaking on the red & blue quadrants along with tape over the one blue quadrant. There was probably a decorative rope attached to this at some point.

• Back: The reverse side is blank (unstamped) and shows more paint flaking on the red quadrants and visible surface scuffs/grime from decades of storage. There is no mounting hardware or pin on the back.
