Beautiful powder-blue teapot with elegant, handpainted gold scrollwork. This is a highly collectable teapot made by Sadler between 1937 and 1947, in the elegant "Louis" shape that is now commonly called "Cube". It has the pattern number (#1922) hand-painted underneath with the gilder's initial and the Sadler stamp.
Please note: the teapot has been used, and there is a chip to the inside rim, about 1cm at the top and 2cm at the bottom, but this isn't visible when the lid is in place. There are several hair-lines inside the teapot and also some on the outside, as well as generalised fine crazing all around the bottom half of the pot. The crazing is visible on close inspection, but is not noticeable at a short distance. The gilding is in very good condition, with only slight scuffing here and there.
The teapot would make a beautiful addition to any Sadler collection.
