Vintage Signed Alvarez Mexico Paper Mache Clown Standing On Head Folk Art 17\" For Sale

Wonderful grouping of three vintage Mexican papier-mâché circus clowns attributed to/signed Alvarez Mexico.

The set includes three distinctive designs:

• Standing clown balancing a bar overhead – approx. 17\" tall
• Seated marionette-style clown with strings/control bars – approx. 17\" tall
• Acrobat/balloon clown with colorful papier-mâché balloons – approx. 13\" long (clown measurement; balloons extend the overall display height when suspended)

Each features a colorful hand-painted finish in vivid reds, oranges, yellows, turquoise and gold with wonderfully expressive painted clown faces.

These are lightweight papier-mâché folk-art pieces rather than ceramic figures. Alvarez Mexico signed papier-mâché clowns are found in the vintage Mexican folk-art collector market.

Vintage pre-owned condition with age-related surface wear, scuffs, discoloration, paint loss and small chips. The papier-mâché balloons show additional wear around some tips/edges. Strings and marionette components show age and wear. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.
