This item is a hand-painted tin-glazed earthenware . Italian Maiolica portrait wall plate (or charger) styled after classic Renaissance "bella donna" pieces.
Design: It features a profile portrait of a lady wearing traditional period garments, complete with a patterned head covering and bodice.
Color Scheme: The plate uses a distinct cobalt blue-and-white glaze technique common to high-end Italian faience or majolica workshops.Signature: There is a handwritten artist or workshop signature visible along the lower right edge of the inner portrait boundary reading Pericoli. G. This artisan piece crafted by the contemporary Italian ceramicist Graziano Pericoli. He is a respected Umbrian artist who works out of Gualdo Tadino—a historic Italian ceramic town right next to Deruta that specializes in traditional Renaissance majolica and lusterware techniques. There’s a slight crack on the back of the plate that does not extend to the front of the plate at all. This plate is meant to be hung on the wall. This plate is made of earthenware . This is a rare pattern plate. I haven’t been able to find one like this lady exactly online.
