* Subject Matter: Features stunning, crisp coverage of the U.S. Air Force 335th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron (the famous "Chiefs") during their post-armistice operations, including a rare day-to-day operational Flight Schedule board and pilot lineups alongside the legendary F-86 Sabre jet. The collection also includes highly intimate, candid frames of U.S. Naval Aviation life, featuring a jet pilot with a custom-painted squadron flight helmet.
**Provenance & Family History:**
These negatives come directly from the estate collection of my late father-in-law. While we don't know the exact story of how these specific frames came into his possession, his life was deeply rooted in aviation and photography. Born in 1930, he grew up in Alameda, California, where he spent his youth frequently visiting local airfields like Oakland and NAS Alameda.
He went on to become a lifelong Naval Aviator, an aerospace engineer for Lockheed Martin, and an avid photography buff and history enthusiast. We are just beginning the massive task of clearing out his enormous, meticulously kept lifetime collection of aviation and military history.
