Vintage 1960s Papier-Mache Winking Bowler Bobblehead - Made in JapanUp for sale is a wonderfully charming and highly collectible vintage 1960s mid-century sports novelty bobblehead / nodder figurine depicting a comical, retro bowler character. Standing at approximately 6.5 inches tall, this unique piece captures a classic "winking" expression with clear glass/plastic eye inserts under painted spectacles and a green checkered/plaid newsboy driving cap.The hand-painted character is outfitted in a vibrant yellow short-sleeve polo shirt with black V-neck trim, blue trousers, and classic black bowling shoes. He is molded holding a brown bowling ball in one hand, while two bowling pins are scattered at his feet on a cream-colored oval base. Crafted in lightweight vintage molded papier-mâché / composition material, this figure uses a classic internal hook-and-balance weight system rather than a spring, allowing the head to tilt and sway with a gentle touch. It is an amazing addition to any vintage sports memorabilia collection, retro bar display, or mid-century kitsch arrangement!Measurements & Details:

This original 1960s nodder is in fair-to-good vintage condition, holding a massive amount of authentic mid-century character. The internal balance mechanism is fully intact, allowing the head to pivot, tilt, and sway freely. The inset winking eye components are secure. Cosmetically, due to the fragile nature of vintage papier-mâché pulp construction, this item displays typical age-related wear and a few notable paint/structural imperfections. There is uniform hairline surface crazing and age spots across the finish. Notable cosmetic flaws include:
- A prominent paint chip and surface hairline fracture along the lower back edge of his bald head/neck rim.
- A paint flake on the very peak of his green plaid hat.
- Minor paint rubbing on his thumb/hand.
- A distinct chip out of the black paint on the tip of his right shoe, along with a tight hairline age crack extending across the front of the cream base rim.
The bottom base has some typical display shelf discoloration but remains completely stable. Please closely review all provided high-resolution photos for an exact look at the details, wear, and overall condition before offerding.Shipping & Handling:
