Today I am offering this fabulous vintage Holly Hobbie large fabric remnant.
This print is from the "Petticoats & Pantaloons" collection, which was an official American Greetings spin-off line manufactured by Manes Fabrics in the 1970s.
It features the traditional prairie girls wearing oversized patchwork pinafore dresses and matching sunbonnets.
Nostalgic scenes featuring young girls in large bonnets, including two drinking tea next to the quote "A cup of kindness goes a long way".
Another girl is seated next to a vintage horn phonograph. Underneath her reads Petticoats and Pantaloons in black script.
Alternating faux patches of bright red and white ticking stripes, vibrant blue floral bouquets, and smaller repeating red, green, and blue calico flower patterns.
This type of printed fabric was wildly popular for bedding, curtains, and children's clothing during the cottagecore and country-style design boom of the 1970s.
This is the defining mascot created by illustrator Denise Holly Hobbie.
While the most iconic Holly Hobbie designs often utilize soft blue or patchwork brown palettes, this particular red, white, and blue checkered layout is one of her rarer vintage colorways.

It is in excellent vintage condition. It is crisp and clean. I don't think it was ever washed. It's bright and bold with no fading or yellowing.
