Up for sale is a beautiful vintage Asian handwoven bamboo and rattan basket, dating from the 1970s. This medium-sized handled vessel features exceptional craftsmanship, showcasing a traditional three-directional hexagonal weave pattern (Mutsume-ami) at its base. The bottom framework anchors a delicate, airy open-work diagonal lattice mesh that rises up to a structurally reinforced, wrapped rim.The basket is crowned with an elegant, split-strand wrapped bentwood handle that splits beautifully where it connects to the body, providing excellent structural support. Over the decades, the natural split-cane fibers have developed a rich, warm amber-brown patina that cannot be replicated by modern machine-made pieces.This multi-functional, unbranded folk-craft piece is perfect as a decorative table centerpiece (Morikago style fruit/bread basket), a stunning display vessel for dry floral arrangements (Hanakago / Ikebana style), or a statement piece for Mid-Century Modern, Zen, and Bohemian home decor.
