Vintage Chinese REVERSE HAND PAINTED CRYSTAL BOTTLE Perfume/Snuff PHOENIX BIRD
Size 2 15/16\" high x 1.75\" wide x .75\" deep. This type of highly decorated bottle was most commonly made in the 1920s and 1930s, and was either used for snuff or for perfume.
Features a hand-cut crystal [not glass] bottle which is very thick and heavy and shaped as a rectangle. The shoulders are slightly curved at top, and the base has an oval foot.
A VERY UNUSUAL/UNIQUE design of a magnificent and lush PHOENIX BIRD in flight wraps around all 4 sides of the bottle. It is actually grabbing its own tail with its beak, which makes it a very fluid looking image. Wonderful.
The skill with which the Artist painted the inside of the crystal is impressive- very minute and thin lines with beautiful expressiveness and form. Meticulous detailing.
