Today I am offering this fabulous vintage MCM \"Gerber Legendary Blades\" GSR 3-Piece Carving Set, complete with its original presentation box with red velvet interior.

There is a label attached to the underside from Jacobson\'s, (which was an upscale department store,) showing it was a gift purchased on 12/8/1982.

This set is from Gerber’s respected mid-20th-century line and includes all three signature pieces:

INCLUDED:

• Snickersnee Carving Knife – razor-sharp, elegant profile
• Ron Holding Fork – 2-prong, classic Gerber sculpted stainless handle
• Gungnir Sharpening Steel – designed for maintaining a fine edge
• Original gift/storage box with red velvet lining

DETAILS:

• All three tools are in excellent vintage pre-owned condition. I don\'t think they were ever used more than once
• Each piece is engraved with \"GERBER\" and the individual tool name
• No rust, pitting, or wear
• Only extremely minimal surface scratches from normal handling
• The handles retain their original satin-finish polished shine
• Velvet interior is clean and vibrant
• The slotted wood inserts that keep the pieces in place are in great condition
• The cardboard box exterior looks good with minor corner, edge, and storage wear.

This exact configuration of the Snickersnee knife, the Ron fork, and the Gungnir sharpening steel, is becoming harder to find. Especially when it\'s complete and in this exceptional condition.

HERE\'S SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS PRODUCT AND COMPANY:

In 1910, the Gerber family started an advertising firm in Portland, Oregon. While working for the family business, Joseph Gerber mailed twenty-four sets of kitchen knives to clients during the holidays.

These handmade knives were very popular, with then catalog retailer Abercrombie & Fitch requesting more of these knives from Gerber to sell in their catalog in 1939.

Gerber started Gerber Legendary Blades that same year.

In 1966, the company relocated to its new headquarters in Tigard, Oregon. The Finnish company Fiskars purchased the private company in 1987.
