This is a decorative wall plate made in Mexico of alpaca metal (a silver-toned alloy of copper, nickel and zinc). It measures about 6 7/8" in diameter. The center depicts the Aztec sun stone/calendar; the surrounding edge is inlaid with abalone shell. On the hanger in the back is stamped "alpaca" (although the entire word cannot be seen).
