This is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind vintage hand-painted genuine ostrich eggshell art piece. This egg features an immersive, wrap-around scenic landscape across its entire surface. One side showcases a tranquil coastal shoreline with two figures relaxing beneath a sprawling tree overlooking vibrant turquoise waters. Rotating the egg reveals a dramatic, warm sunset transitioning into a lush, green mountainous tropical island terrain.
The level of detail and color blending across the natural curvature of the ostrich shell is exceptional. This piece is hand-signed by regional folk artist Barbara Raby ("B. Raby") directly above the base hole and is dated "9-2001" (September 2001). It was acquired in the Chicagoland area of Illinois, where the artist actively exhibited her work at local artisan fairs and egg art guild shows during the early 2000s.
