This group of 6 items makes a nice addition to your militaria collection. First, this whole set less the bronze star, was sold to me as a WW1 officer's overseas items more than 15 years ago. You need to be the judge of that, and buyer beware. I do not think any of this is fake, but I can't be certain. I liked having the stuff, but now I have to downsize, so I am selling this as one value priced lot.
First we have the compass - clearly marked US Engineer Corps, serial # is visible, lots of these on now in a wide price range. This points relatively north, but the glass is aged and not clear to see through.
Next is the WW1 Victory medal with two clasps: Meuse-Argonne and Defensive sector. It's in great shape. Fake? I just don't know. Looks real to me.
Next is the K&E slide rule, 1899/1903 patent date and leather case. Lots of these on now. The officer's name was written on the case at one time, but it has mostly faded off. Fake? I doubt it - not much money in faking a commonly available item in w wide price range.
The garrison cap is a US OD wool garrison/overseas cap with a gold 2nd Lt bar. However, it does NOT have officer's piping. It's in really good condition. Size marked illegibly, but no maker's mark. Fake? Seems like a lot of trouble to go through.
Next is his mirror kit. A common item, still bright and shiny.
Finally is the Bronze star medal - not WW1 era. It's included here because there are sooo many listed individually on now, how would you decide.
So the price is much less than what I paid a long time ago, and I think it is a good deal. Make me an offer.
