Private Kenneth Vaughn Monesson PA his award documents,(no medals), chevrons, troop billet and instructions for the USS Mobile returning home (no gambling, smoking only on open decks, not spitting on deck )etc. 6 page letter. He was in the Bethincourt Argonne Forest drive that ended the war. Oct 15th he was wounded and spent 10 days in the hospital and returned to go over the top on Nov. 1st. Very good detail and time throughout the day. All he could see was dead men and bodies torn to pieces. They drove the Germans for 5 days till the next barrage. Their major was killed right next to him, \"but they made the Huns pay as all you could see was dead horses and dead Germans\". They came over with 250 men and lost 150 killed and wounded. They hiked 200 miles in 15 days He saw a Salvation Army girl in the front line giving out cigarettes and cake.
