WW1 US Army Officer Service Coat Tunic Brias Roxas Manila Vintage OG 1900s For Sale

This product is a WW1 US Army Officer's tunic, which was privately purchased during the World War 1 era, or right after the era during early 1920s.

This original period item is a rare piece of militaria history. The wool olive green coat was tailored with a brown sateen liner. Military personnel were responsible for purchasing their own uniforms during this era, they would go to private tailors to have this done.

The tunic has a very small tag in the upper left pocket as a size 1.

During World War I, the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps frequently used a simplified numerical grading system (sizes 1 through 6+) for uniforms, this size typically correlated to a smaller frame or size 36.

The tunic has all the buttons, there are 9 brass Waterbury Button Co., Connecticut buttons, one Waterbury Scovill button and one very rare Brias Roxas, Manila button which adds to the authenticity of this coat being in the Philippines and was most likely privately tailored by Brias Roxas or the officer had taken the coat for repairs.

Brias Roxas was an iconic tailor during the late 1900s early 20s, in Manila. American service members who sailed across the Pacific to the Philippines, lost or damaged a few buttons would take it to an iconic local artisan in Manila to keep it up to regulations.

Brias Roxas was one of them.

There are no signs of patches ever being added, it appears there was pins on the collar at some point, there is a rip on the hem of the sateen liner as shown in pictures. No other visible tags that I could find besides the size 1. Measurements are provided in pictures. Possibly some very faint writing on the inside collar, not eligible.

It is a unique and authentic collectible item that offers a glimpse into the history of military uniforms during that time period. This came from an Estate, and the previous owner had preserved this coat in excellent condition.
