Up for sale is a genuine, original World War 1 First Army Air Service shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI). This specific variation features the prominent black First Army arch geometry paired with the central Air Service aviation target/cockade roundel. These distinctive woven patches were produced during the late war period under the direction of the U.S. Treasury Department. They were designed to be displayed on bank financial boards to promote Liberty Loan war bonds to fund the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF).
