WWI Austro-Hungarian M17 Helmet CAS 66 Scholtz Shell WWII German M31 Reissue:
$1105.00

Up for sale is a highly scarce, authentic WW1 Austro-Hungarian M17 Combat Helmet Shell that was officially refurbished and reissued as a German \"Transitional\" Combat Helmet during WWII.This helmet represents a classic example of WWII field reuse, combining a rare WWI combat shell with a complete, period-installed German M31 liner system.Inner Lining: Germans pulled out the Hungarian 3-Tongue Lining from WW1 and replaced it with new 8-Tongue lining for WW2.Shell Details & Characteristics:
  • Maker Stamp: Crisp, highly visible \"C.A.S. 66\" factory stamp on the inner rim, identifying production by the scarce maker C.A. Scholtz (Mateocz) in a highly desirable, hard-to-find large size 66.
  • Model: Original WW1Austro-Hungarian M17 Steel Shell.
  • Exterior Condition: Features a smooth, deep wartime matte green finish with honest field wear, light scuffs, and minor surface patina. The shell structure is completely solid with no cracks or major dents. The original prominent WWI side ventilation lugs are fully intact.
Liner & Interior Condition:
  • Configuration: Complete with an authentic, period-correct WWII German M31 style 8-finger brown leather liner.
  • Liner Condition: The 8-tongue leather is completely intact, showing honest wear, aging, and historical character. It is firmly riveted to its metal liner band.
  • Markings: Features vintage hand-inked soldier initials \"FW\" clearly marked on one of the leather tongues. I copied and pasted this description from google AI.
