The product is a WWI US Coastal Artillery trench art watch fob pendant from 1913 by USC Co. This 45 cal. bullet, made by the United States Cartridge Company March 3rd, 1913. It has been handed down for 3 complete generations, grand father, dad, and finally the only son. When the son recently passed at a very young age of 64, there was no other family remaining. I purchased the entire contents of the sons estate. There wasn\'t alot of what you would call \"stand out items\" in the sons estate. But I found several really unique items in what I purchased.
The grand dad was in the US AEF Corp (American Expeditonary Forces). This group of American soldiers fought alongside the Allied forces on the Western Front protecting the coast and harbors with heavy artilley.
The soldiers made all types of trench art while waiting for their next battle.
This pendant being made while the grand father had been serving on the Western Front in Europe places this pendant as a very unique piece of \"world traveled\" trench art.
When I was packing and loading the contents of the sons estate, neighbors would come over to his house and tell me what a great guy the son was. However, almost everyone mentioned he was a major alcoholic. No matter how much he drank, he still kept this pendant in a small display case on his coffee table in his living room. Nothing else on coffee table, just this pendant in its display case.
