Up for sale is a fantastic, authentic piece of World War II history featuring a U.S. Home Front / Civilian Defense helmet paired with a period-original 1943 military handbook. This makes a perfect instant-display lot for any military history collector.
### **Item 1: WWII B.F. McDonald Co. \"Turtle Shell\" Helmet**
This non-ballistic helmet was produced during the war years by the famous B.F. McDonald Company out of Los Angeles, California, for use by Civil Defense personnel, factory guards, shipyard workers, and Merchant Marines.
* **Exterior:** Retains its original matte olive drab finish with an honest, uncleaned patina and minor surface oxidation on the crown. It shows faint historic grease pencil personalization (\"B.L.\") near the front brim. The metal is structurally sound with no severe dents or warping.
* **Interior:** In incredibly complete vintage condition! Features the original fabric web suspension straps, the adjustable metal buckle, and the complete brown leather sweatband frame. Crucially, the red, white, and blue circular \"B.F. McDonald Co.\" factory decal remains intact and legible dead center in the crown.
### **Item 2: June 2, 1943 War Department Basic Field Manual (FM 21-105)**
Included in this lot is an original WWII military pocket handbook titled **\"Engineer Soldier\'s Handbook.\"**
* **Details:** Published by the U.S. War Department in mid-1943, this manual was issued to troops to cover essential field tactics, rigging, obstacles, explosives, and engineering defense principles.
* **Condition:** Clean, complete, and fully readable with authentic shelf aging and light cover wear consistent with a 1940s field publication. Includes faint period handwriting/fading on the front upper cover corner.
