X-MEN #33 pg 20 ORIGINAL COMIC ART ROTH 1967 ALL 5 X-MEN:
$25300.00

X-MEN #33 pg 20 ORIGINAL COMIC ART ROTH 1967 ALL 5 X-MEN Exceptional original published Twice Up Silver Age Marvel artwork from X-Men #33, story page 20, published by Marvel Comics in 1967. This is the final story page of the issue and features an outstanding lineup of ALL FIVE ORIGINAL X-MEN - Cyclops, Marvel Girl / Jean Grey, Beast, Angel and Iceman. The artwork was penciled by Werner Roth and inked by John Tartaglione, with the story written by Roy Thomas. These credits are confirmed for the 20-page story “Into the Crimson Cosmos!” The page opens with the dramatic conclusion to the X-Men's confrontation involving the mystical Ruby of Cyttorak and the Crimson Cosmos. Cyclops and Marvel Girl are prominently featured as the ruby erupts in a blinding flash, followed by the X-Men regrouping as the immediate threat disappears. The lower half brings the team back to their Westchester headquarters, where they make a disturbing discovery: Professor Charles Xavier has been kidnapped by Factor Three. The large final panel is particularly desirable, featuring Cyclops, Iceman, Angel and Marvel Girl together in their classic Silver Age costumes, with Beast also appearing earlier on the page. The artwork concludes with the original hand-lettered: “NEXT ISH! THE EXTRAORDINARY X-MEN VS. MOLE MAN AND TYRANNUS!” That classic next-issue teaser gives the piece tremendous period character and makes it immediately recognizable as the final page of a 1960s Marvel story. The page dates from just four years after the X-Men's 1963 debut and comes from the original Silver Age run of the series. It is drawn on the large-format Marvel art board characteristic of the Silver Age, giving the original artwork an impressive presence when viewed in person. The artwork presents very well for an original Marvel page dating from 1967. Please review all photographs carefully for exact condition. This is the actual hand-drawn and hand-inked original published artwork used in the production of X-Men #33 in 1967. It is not a print, reproduction or production copy. Original 1960s X-Men artwork with the complete original team represented on a single page is extremely desirable and increasingly difficult to acquire.
